Det var meget lavvandet og man kunne til morgen for f\u00f8rste gang g\u00e5 ud til den ene af de to \u00f8er neden for huset og det gjorde vi jo straks. <\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>Vi k\u00f8rte op til Englishman River Estuary fra Plummer Rd siden og parkerede ved Marina Way. Der var ebbe s\u00e5 vi h\u00e5bede p\u00e5 lidt vadefugle p\u00e5 mudderfladerne. Der var bl\u00e5 himmel men en vind fra NV bl\u00e6ste med 4 &#8211; 5 m\/s, hvilket virkede k\u00f8lende &#8211; ja nogle at turens deltagere syntes ligefrem, at det var koldt \ud83d\ude42 Men der var lidt killdeer og western sandpipers, northern flickers og lidt sm\u00e5fugle (bl.a. gr\u00e5spurv og white-crowned sparrow). Og s\u00e5 opdagede vi fem p\u00e5 afstand lidt l\u00e6rkelignende sm\u00e5fugle p\u00e5 mudderfladen lige ved vejen. De var mindre end l\u00e6rker og sangl\u00e6rke vidste vi det ikke kunne v\u00e6re, da de herovre kun findes ved den internationale lufthavn udenfor Victoria\/Sannich. Kikkerten p\u00e5 fuglene og s\u00e5 kunne vi se at det var nogle v\u00e6rlinger med sorte ben, hvid mave, r\u00f8dbrune store d\u00e6kfjer p\u00e5 vingen og en markant hovedtegning. Lapv\u00e6rlinger! De fl\u00f8j op og tog en runde og landede igen. De fouragerede p\u00e5 mudderfladerne og mellem nogle lave gr\u00f8nne planter. Fik kigget godt p\u00e5 dem i skopet for at v\u00e6re helt sikker &#8211; for umiddelbart var det tidligt for lapv\u00e6rlinger (der hedder Lapland Longspur p\u00e5 amerikansk) og vi var ikke klar over, hvor almindelige de var her. Et tjek i bogen bekr\u00e6ftede vores bestemmelse, der var ingen andre nordamerikanske arter de kunne forveksles med. Men anyway &#8211; det er en flot fugl selvom det var fugle i 1. vinterdragt. Vi ser dem ikke s\u00e6rlig tit i DK. Lidt senere kom en fiske\u00f8rn tr\u00e6kkende ind og landede i et tr\u00e6. Vi s\u00e5 ogs\u00e5 nogle River Otters p\u00e5 stranden. S\u00e5 k\u00f8rte vi til Shelley Rd p\u00e5 den anden side ad floden, men det gav ikke ret mange flere fugle.<\/div>\n<p>Det er ikke mange sommerfugle der er, men nogle f\u00e5 dukker der op i ny og n\u00e6 &#8211; vi ved dog ikke hvad det er for nogle. Tilgeng\u00e6ld er der rigtig mange gr\u00e6shopper &#8211; og de lyder ligesom cikader, s\u00e5 med den varme der har v\u00e6ret de sidste dage, er det s\u00e5dan helt sydlandsk stemning der er.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_PZqvJu7i_-g\/SMr4L_c0k6I\/AAAAAAAABNI\/R5V1Jq3u-4Y\/s1600-h\/VancouverIsland20080910_04.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5245277600920933282\" style=\"CURSOR: hand\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_PZqvJu7i_-g\/SMr4L_c0k6I\/AAAAAAAABNI\/R5V1Jq3u-4Y\/s320\/VancouverIsland20080910_04.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div>P\u00e5 vej hjem tjekkede vi lige en lille planteskole for og se hvad de havde og hvad krukker koster &#8211; vi t\u00e6nker lidt i en &#8216;tak for l\u00e5n&#8217;-gave. S\u00e5 lige inden om Reef Rd og spise lidt og sidde p\u00e5 terrassen, hvor der nedenfor l\u00e5 2 harlequin ducks (str\u00f8m\u00e6nder).<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Eftermiddagen brugte vi i Nanaimo. Et smut i SEARS og k\u00f8be str\u00f8mper til UDA og tjekke billige bukser &#8211; men vi n\u00f8jedes med str\u00f8mper. S\u00e5 ned og birde i Buttertup Marsh. Der var blevet meget varmt i mellemtiden, s\u00e5 de 2 km rundt f\u00f8ltes meget lange &#8211; m\u00e5ske ogs\u00e5 fordi, der ikke var s\u00e5 mange fugle denne gang. BEST fik dog set glimtet af en Marsh Wren (en af deres g\u00e6rdesmutte arter) og vi fik American Coot (amerikansk blish\u00f8ne) p\u00e5 turlisten.<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>P\u00e5 vejen indtil Valhal Outfitters, hvor vi lige k\u00f8bte en gasflaske, s\u00e5 vi at temperaturen var 27 grader Celsius, s\u00e5 ikke noget at sige til at vi havde det varmt, s\u00e5 det var helt dejligt, at handle i Save on Foods bagefter. Og s\u00e5 var det hjem og lave aftensmad som blev ovnstegt vildlaks med orientalsk ris vilmarksret og traneb\u00e6rsaftvand &#8211; uhm &#8211; t\u00e6nk hvor det smagte godt \ud83d\ude42<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>UDA fik svar fra Hans Laue, at lapv\u00e6rlinger var sj\u00e6ldne (2 &#8211; 5 iagttagelser om \u00e5ret) s\u00e5 det skulle indrapporteres til the Backyard Store. Okay &#8211; jamen inden det blev gjort tjekkde vi lige litteraturen og internettet, for skulle vi nu kommer herover og se sj\u00e6ldne fugle, n\u00e5r nu vi synes nogle af deres er sv\u00e6re nok i forvejen? Men nej vi var nu sikre p\u00e5 bestemmelsen.
