S\u00f8ndag – 07.09.2008 kl. 21.00 PDT.<\/span><\/div>\n

Det var blevet s\u00f8ndag, hvilket bet\u00f8d at vi skulle p\u00e5 Sunday Bird Walk. I dag var det til Englishman River Esturary (Shelley Rd). Turen startede 9.30, men vi tog lige et kort stop ved estuariet fra Plummer Rd siden inden. Det gav western sandpiper og least sanpiper – 2 rylearter. Vi var ikke de f\u00f8rste, der ankom til turens udgangspunkt – ca. halvdelen af de 26 deltager stod klar. Flere var gengangere fra sidste s\u00f8ndag, men der var ogs\u00e5 nye ansigter, bl.a. 2 fra Tveed Heads, Brisbane, Australien. Paret fra New Brunswick, Canada var der ogs\u00e5 og s\u00e5 vores nye venner Helen og Hans Laue fra Nanoose. Det var igen en rigtig god og hyggelig tur i sol og varme (n\u00e5r man var i l\u00e6 for vinden) og der blev snakket en del. Med s\u00e5 mange mennesker er det sv\u00e6rt at f\u00e5 det hele med, og vi s\u00e5 eller h\u00f8rte heller ikke samtlige 51 arter, som blev noteret fra turen. Vi fik dog et par nye arter og nogle tips til, hvor vi skal tage hen n\u00e5r “we are going to the west coast” (Tofino\/Ucluelet kysten ud til Stillehavet). P\u00e5 vej hjem fra turen s\u00e5 vi en Pileated Woodpecker flyve over vejen. Det er en meget stor og flot sp\u00e6tte som vi havde h\u00e5bet p\u00e5 at se.<\/div>\n

Eftermiddagen tilbragte vi i Nanaimo – The Harbour City – som der st\u00e5r p\u00e5 deres byskilte. Vi gik en tur langs noget af havnen, hvor der var nogle ganske flotte bygninger, der fungerede som sm\u00e5 spisesteder.

Bagefter gik vi en lille tur i et par mindre gader inden vi returnerede til bilen og k\u00f8rte i Wall Mart for at se Brewer’s Blackbird, som der er en del af p\u00e5 parkeringspladsen. Og n\u00e5r vi nu var der gik vi ogs\u00e5 lige ind i Wall Mart og k\u00f8bte noget gas til kogegrejet vi har l\u00e5nt. Vi tager nemlig til the west coast i morgen og tager et par overnatninger i telt. Der skulle v\u00e6re rigtig flot ude og gode muligheder for at se nogle fugle, bl.a. havfugle, hvilket afh\u00e6nger af vejret. Og m\u00e5ske nogle flere hvaler ….. og BJ\u00d8RNE!!! Og s\u00e5 er der selvf\u00f8lgelig deres regnskov – Pacific Rim National Park, som skulle v\u00e6re utrolig sp\u00e6ndende.<\/div>\n
